Guns and Cars Both Kill People. And Yet…

Headline: Sandy Hook Parents win settlement in lawsuits against Remington Arms. One reader commented:

“This means that every automobile manufacturer in the U. S. is liable for all the injuries and deaths they “cause.””

My response:

Cars are not designed to kill people. In fact, they are designed in many ways to save lives in case they are misused – seat belts, airbags, crumple zones, etc. And yet — and yet, we willingly require a license and insurance to drive one.

Many who purchase firearms state their reason is self-protection. Not from cougars, or grizzlies, but from…other people.

Guns are designed to kill people. And yet — and yet, a minority of those in this great country fear requiring a license or insurance to possess them.
